Check a Louisiana Arrest on VINELink

Wondering who was arrested in Louisiana and where they are now? A Louisiana VINELink custody check answers that narrow question. It shows whether someone is in a participating parish jail or state prison right now. It can also send a free alert when custody changes. Parish systems feed their arrest data into LA VINE. The state corrections system adds its own. Some city jails keep separate rosters instead. Results depend on the parish, the booking, and the source. Coverage is not complete. A missing name is not the last word. Parish booking photos and rosters sit on the county sites of this network. Go there for deeper detail.

Check a Louisiana Arrest on VINELink

Begin with one person. Add a detail that separates similar names. The public search asks for identifying information. A case or ID number helps when the name is common. Match the result against a parish source before trusting it.

  1. Open the Louisiana person search on VINELink and keep the state set to Louisiana.
  2. Enter the person’s name, or use an available identification or case number if the search offers that field.
  3. Review every likely match. Compare the listed age or birth detail, parish or facility, and status where shown. Do not choose by name or photo alone.
  4. Open the record that fits, then note the status and location as they appear. If no result fits, try a spelling variation or verify with the parish jail source.

A name-only match can mislead. Similar names and thin identifiers create real uncertainty. If a result cannot tell two people apart, treat it as a lead only. It points to a custody record, nothing more.

What a Louisiana VINELink Result Shows

The result reports custody. It does not sum up a case. You may see where the person is held and whether the record says in custody, released, or moved. Other fields depend on the sending system. A blank field is not proof the agency lacks a record.

Result detailWhat it can tell youWhat it cannot settle
Name and match detailsWhether the result may refer to the person being checked.A name match alone does not confirm identity.
Custody statusWhether the source reports the person in custody or a status change. It does not state guilt or the final case result.
Parish or facilityThe listed custody location when the source provides it.It may not show the arresting agency or every transfer step.
Case, booking, or release detailsExtra identifiers or dates when a local system supplies them.Field names and depth vary across Louisiana systems.
PhotoA local roster may show a booking image outside VINELink.VINELink does not guarantee a photo, and a photo cannot prove identity.

Fresh bookings test these limits. The screen can show an old status while intake data is still entered. One field may update before another. Treat what you see as a dated snapshot. When the case itself matters, a clerk's docket answers a different question than any custody screen.

Register for Louisiana Custody Alerts

LA VINE registration is free and anonymous. Sign up through the online interface or the toll-free line at 866-528-6748. Pick a contact method that can actually reach you. An old number or stale inbox defeats the purpose. The alert signals a recorded event only. Confirm details with the agency through a separate path.

  1. Find and open the matching custody record in VINELink, or call the LA VINE number and follow the recorded prompts.
  2. Select the alert method offered for that record, such as a telephone number or email address, and enter contact details carefully.
  3. Complete any PIN or confirmation step the current screen or phone system requests. Keep private codes somewhere safe and do not share them with the person whose record is being checked.
  4. Save the service’s confirmation and update the contact method if it changes. Read an alert as notice of a reported custody event, then confirm urgent details with the relevant office.

The interface sets the exact alert choices per record. A notice may cover release, transfer, or another custody change. It explains nothing about why and replaces no safety planning with a local victim-services office.

Louisiana’s 64 Parish Roster Map

The LCLE roster directory carries a parish roster entry for all 64 Louisiana parishes. Three are marked offline: Grant, Terrebonne, and Union. That marking reflects the directory's own status display. It is not a live uptime test. For current links and any changed status, open the official LA VINE parish roster directory.

Municipal systems get their own LCLE listings too. Bogalusa, Bossier City, DeQuincy, Eunice, Hammond, Kinder, Leesville, Monroe, Oakdale, Opelousas, Patterson, Rayne, Shreveport, Slidell, Sulphur, Ville Platte, and Winnfield appear there. These entries round out the parish map. A city system may cover a municipal jail with its own booking path. When the arresting agency is municipal, check both.

Coverage note. A parish roster entry is not a guarantee of a complete public feed. Grant, Terrebonne, and Union were specifically marked offline in the source snapshot; use the parish sheriff or jail office when a listed path does not load.

LA VINE and DPS&C Victim Outreach

People seeking state-prison release information have a second option. The Department of Public Safety & Corrections runs its own Victim Services page, separate from LA VINE. LA VINE handles parish custody searches and release or transfer alerts across participating parish and state systems. DPS&C Victim Outreach handles state-inmate release information and its registration process.

The two services answer related but different questions. A parish booking may stay in a sheriff's custody system. A later state-prison placement belongs to DPS&C. People move between them. Yet a record in one service does not promise the other shows the same fields, dates, or alert choices. Keep the custody stage and official source straight when sharing an update with family or counsel.

Note: Louisiana’s parish custody network and its state-prison victim program serve different custody stages and use separate registration paths.

When a Louisiana Arrest Needs Verification

A blank result does not mean the person was never arrested. Parishes take their rosters offline at times. A new booking may sit in a system that has not pushed it to the public view yet. Or the person may already be out of custody. Some arrests never touch a parish jail at all. Municipal, federal, immigration, and juvenile systems each keep their own records. For those, the federal Bureau of Prisons locator and the ICE detainee locator exist, but neither works like a Louisiana parish arrest roster. Juvenile cases sit behind different access rules as well.

When the arrest is fresh, patience pays off. Compare VINELink against the parish's newest booking view first. Then call the jail or the sheriff's records office. Timing explains most of the gaps you will run into. LCLE says parish roster data refreshes every 30 minutes, while the state's DPS&C locator guidance gives a 24-hour cycle. Those numbers describe the source systems, not a promised posting deadline for a new arrest. Someone no longer in custody still shows up in same-day booking coverage, which the page on Arrests Last 24 Hours walks through. To trace the wider parish-to-state path, begin with Louisiana recent arrests.

One caution ends the search. Never contact or approach a person based on a name-only match or a VINE alert.

Note: A roster refresh interval describes system updates, not an agency promise that every new arrest will appear within that time.
